Summer of 2012

Vance was called to be the Young Men's President in our Ward here in Taylor and one of the first activities he did with the Priests was go cliff jumping at Clear Creek. Layton went with them even though he was only 11. They had a great time and nobody got hurt! Yay! We have an awesome group of boys.

One of the funnest things we did over the summer was go out into the forest with a bunch of families in our ward and have a cookout and ride quads. One time, we made Krispy Kreme Burgers. YUM!

We had a lot of projects over the summer that kept us busy. One of the not-so-fun ones was that our kitchen sink kept backing up so Vance borrowed a back hoe from a good friend and dug up the water lines and sewer lines and found out that when the old septic tank was caved in, they forgot to connect all the pipes to city sewer. This is the pipe that was backing up into our sink. Vance fixed everything up the right way and buried it all and now we have no problems with the kitchen sink!

Another project was removing the weird track lighting from the kitchen and putting in can lights. No more cave!!! Let there be light!!! I love my new kitchen lighting!!!

Layton was less than thrilled to have to mow the lawn but he did it almost every week all summer. I love green grass so much! It truly makes me happy.

Another project we tackled over the summer was to finish the upstairs. We painted and put in baseboard, and then Vance and Josh installed the carpet. The room is totally finished now and we use it for our theater room. We put a projector up there and it plays tv and movies and video games on the whole back wall. I also have a little craft area up there. Its really nice to have all the extra space.

And of course, when there is mud, boys will find it. Josh and his buddy, Loye, frequently took out the Ranger and quad and went mud bogging. Sometimes they would just happen to pick up girls on their way to the mud and let them in on the fun too. I don't know what their parents thought when they came home muddy but you're only young once, right?
