Matching Chairs! Finally!

We have started many projects on our new house. our most recent is the upstairs. It's been boarded off from the rest of the house because it's just like an attic - rafters and plywood floors. So we bought some insullation: A lot of insullation.
This is the opening that previously had a piece of plywood covering it. From dwonstairs, it was very odd because the stairs ran into the ceiling and you had to duck down and crawl to get to the top.
We cut the ceiling back and opened it up so that it is no longer boarded up and you can stand all the way up to get upstairs. It's a nice improvement. :)This is what the attic looked like before we did anything to it.This is the attic after we put up all the insullation. Have I mentioned how much I HATE insullation? It gets in your throat and your eyes and in your hair and clothes and makes you cough and itch and its just no fun at all!Once the insullation was up, we started hanging the drywall. have I ever mentioned how much I HATE drywall? :) It's heavy and awkward and takes forever to hang but what I hate the most is the white dust that spreads through the whole house while we hung it. SOOO glad it's done! This is after all the drywall is done being hung. It is ready to be taped, textured, and sanded and painted. That starts on Monday. Then we'll carpet it. This is the longer side. It's over 25 feet long. We plan to use it for a tv room for the boys' video games and stuff. I'll be glad to have that mess out of my family room. This side is going to be lined with cabinets for my scrapbook area. I'm pretty excited for that!
My other project I've been working on is these chairs. For the longest time I've wanted matching dining room chairs. They're just so dang expensive! So While I was down in Mesa last week doing a wedding, I got on Craigslist and found a biker's bar that was selling 9 chairs for $80. I drove into Chandler to see them and ended up loading them all in to my car. They reeked of alcohol and cigarettes so we drove back home with the windows rolled down and it was FREEZING but worth it. They really smelled bad. But they're solid oak and I knew I could make them nice. I sanded each chair twice and that helped take away a lot of the smell.I took all the leather off the seats and threw it away and the smell is gone!
I recovered all the seat in black leather and Vance sprayed the chairs all black for me.Now I have 8 chairs around my table and one to spare. I love them. I think they turned out nice and they look brand new!I guess I could've cleared off my table for the picture but I just wanted to show the chairs. I wasn't thinking about the table. Oh well. I am so happy to have matching chairs!!!

Blue and Gold Banquet

These are some of the cute Cub Scouts that came to the Blue and Gold Banquet. They had a great time.

I really wanted to have it be a special night for the boys, and of course, anyone who knows me at all, knows when I do something, I go all in or not at all so I made all the decorations. We had a potatoe bar and mac and cheese, and blue and yellow punch. The boys got awards and advancements and we played games and it was fun! Next month: Pinewood Derby. Bring it on!
